Introduction to Soapmaking
In this class we will talk about the equipment and ingredients required to make a simple soap.
We will talk about the benefits of different oils and butters.
We will cover the safety aspects when making soap.
Then you will make a block of cold processed soap (approx 450g) that you will take home.
The session will be up to 3 hours.
Apron, nitrile gloves, sleeve protectors, mask, eye protection are all provided. All this may sound scary but it really isn't. But we do use sodium hydroxide in soap making so the emphasis is on safety.
What you need to bring...
Just yourself and a CLEAN OLD TOWEL.
The towel is to wrap your soap block in as it needs to be kept warm for a few hours after making to ensure the chemical process for turning the raw ingredients into soap can complete.
